Learning from the best with Matt de Villiers

It was fantastic to welcome professional cricketer Matt de Villiers to the Cricket School of Excellence recently.

Fresh from his time in the UK, Matt spent time at the School working on his own game while also taking the opportunity to chat with and mentor some of our aspiring young cricketers.

As captain of the Warriors and a Joburg Super Kings player in the SA20, Matt knows what it takes to perform at the highest level. Having players of his calibre spend time with our youngsters gives them an invaluable opportunity to learn from someone who has experienced the demands of professional cricket first-hand.

Matt shared a simple but powerful message with our players:

“Remain humble & practice smartly.”

It’s advice that perfectly reflects what we encourage at the Cricket School of Excellence - working hard, training with purpose and always being willing to learn.

A big thank you to Matt for spending time with our young cricketers and for being such a positive role model for the next generation.

We look forward to seeing him back at the CSE again soon!
